About Yellowhammer Counseling
Our Story
After over 25 years serving the Baldwin County School System, local nonprofit organizations, and churches as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Sara Parker became a Clinical Supervisor and began building her private practice, Real Life Counseling, while also investing in the next generation of mental health counselors.
It was through Real Life Counseling that the four of us found our way into one another’s lives and work. Over time, it became clear that we shared a passion for high-quality clinical mental healthcare and for the community we call home.
We began to dream together about what we might build, and after a great deal of thought and prayer, Yellowhammer Counseling was born—a group practice rooted in this community and committed to caring for people well.
What Matters to Us:
I. People Come First
We want to understand the whole person in front of us, not reduce someone to a diagnosis, symptom, or circumstance. Good care begins with seeing people clearly and treating their stories with respect.
II. You Are Welcome
You do not need to have everything figured out, know exactly what you want from counseling, or share our beliefs before you begin. There are no expectations about who you need to be when you walk through the door. You are welcome to come as you are. Our job is to meet you there, understand what you need, and serve you well.
III. Faith Without Assumption
We are trained mental health clinicians, and we are Christians. For us, this means:
We believe every person possesses inherent dignity, goodness, and worth.
We believe every person is deserving of kindness, compassion, and respect.
Our faith shapes who we are and how we approach our work, but it does not determine the direction of your counseling or require you to share our beliefs.
If faith is meaningful to you, we will gladly incorporate it into our work. If not, you will receive the same thoughtful, respectful clinical care.
IV. Care With Excellence
Warmth and relationship matter deeply to us, but they are only part of providing good care. We are committed to strong clinical training, thoughtful supervision, ethical practice, and continued growth as counselors. Our work is guided by the educational, professional, and ethical standards established at both the state and national levels.
V. Loving Our Neighbors
Baldwin County is not simply where our office is located; it is our home. We are raising our families here, we worship here, our lives and relationships are here, and we live alongside many of the people we serve. Yellowhammer exists for this community, and we want it to be a place our neighbors can turn to for thoughtful, trustworthy care.
